PREPARING FILES FOR MIXING

-
Provide the tempo (BPM) of the track
-
Deliver files in the same format as your session. Optimal is 44.1kHz 24bit .wav-file without dithering or conversion
-
Deliver tracks with stereo signals in stereo and track with mono signals in mono
-
Name all files appropriately; for example - Kick, Snare, HiHat, Pad, etc. (Please not: Audio1, Audio2, Audio3 etc. )
-
Comp your tracks so that the same instrument and vocal is not spread out on multiple tracks such as; lead vocal verse 1, lead vocal verse 2 etc.
-
Deliver instrument tracks unprocessed - unless the processing is crucial to the idea/sound of the track such as autotune, pitchshifting, distortion etc. If in doubt you can deliver one processed and one unprocessed (which is the better solution in most cases, as it gives more options to the mixing engineer)
-
Deliver vocal tracks tuned but dry and unprocessed unless the processing is crucial to the sound. If in doubt you can deliver one processed and one unprocessed
-
All editing is done beforehand (crossfades, breaks, cutting and arranging vocals, etc.)
-
Keep filter automations/any crucial automations
-
Keep your leveling settings but make sure nothing is clipping (peaking above 0 dBFS)
-
Remember to check the bounced/exported files before sending them, to make sure nothing is missing and everything is playing/aligning correctly (very important)
-
Include your latest approved rough mix and a couple of reference tracks if possible. Please include notes of your your thoughts on how you want the mix to sound like
-
Zip-compress and send the files via an upload client such as Google Drive, Swisstransfer, Wetransfer, etc.
